The Clinic

During a visit in 2021, it was revealed to Johnny Aldridge and Dave Rowland that a clinic was needed in this small village in the Central Plateau in Haiti. Pastor Accilien told them villagers were walking up to 4 hours to the nearest clinic for medical help. They were disturbed to learn that some of the ill were not able to make it to help and were dying on the way. They asked Pastor Accilien to get a quote to build a small clinic on his land beside the school. Pastor came back with a quote of $40,000 USD.

Johnny and Glenda Aldridge, along with Dave and Kim Rowland, committed to pray about the clinic. They did not have the $40,000, but they knew their God owned the cattle on a thousand hills, and He could come through if it was His will. Time passed as they prayed. No one knew the amount needed except these four, Pastor Accilien, and the builder in Haiti. Out of the blue, a call came from a friend of Dave’s. He had an envelope for Dave. Upon opening the envelope, he found a check for exactly $40,000! Praise God!

They contacted Pastor Accilien to start construction. The clinic was built in less than a year.

Now, where do we get the medicine? Who would give out the medicine? How do we get the medicine to Haiti? Looking back, we see how God was walking us down the path He had laid for us. We were told about MAP International in Brunswick, GA. That’s only an hour away from us! MAP sends medicine to ministries all over the world at a HUGE discount!!! All we needed was a doctor to approve them. We have a doctor on our board of directors! Granted, these are dated medicines, but we are very blessed to get them. On a visit to the states, Pastor Accilien told us about Missionary Flights International in Fort Pierce, FL. They are a little over 4 1/2 hours away from us. They fly DC-3’s into a small airport in Haiti, and land on a grass landing strip. It is only 30 miles away from Pastor Accilien’s village!! Now, who would work in the clinic? A nurse from Port-au-Prince wanted to get out of the violence and decided to come home to her parents’ home near the clinic! We pay her $250 USD a month to work the clinic full time. Praise God!!!

Now, we have a fully stocked clinic that sees around 15 people a day. We have no opioids, only antibiotics, fever reducers, children’s cough syrup, etc. Perhaps that is why we have no problems. The villagers are so grateful for the clinic and the opportunity for healthcare.
